1.50 Credit in Professional Practice and qualifies as a Transitional program for the newly admitted.

The New York County Lawyers Inn of Court in conjunction with Cahill Gordon, will present a program on the recently enacted Military Commissions Act.  On October 17, President Bush signed the Military Commissions Act, which contains controversial provisions creating new rules for prosecuting and interrogating terror suspects. Numerous legal challenges are expected.

An impressive panel has been assembled to provide details and answer hard questions about the workings and implications of the new law.  Panel members include:

• Andrew McCarthy, Esq., Director of the Center for Law and Counterterrorism at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.
  
• Steven R. Shapiro, Esq., Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union and an adjunct professor of constitutional law at Columbia Law School.
  
• Sohail Mohammed, Esq., Immigration law specialist who serves as General Counsel to the American Muslim Union and Human Rights, Education and Law Project, Inc.
