Cahill recently sponsored four high school students as part of the internship program designed by Legal Outreach that places motivated tenth grade students from underserved communities into law firms and companies. The program is intended to expose the students to professional practices and professionals who can support their aspirations and enhance their desire to pursue higher education and professional careers.
During the four day program at Cahill, the group of interns participated in a specially designed program that included exploration of Cahill's varied practice, work on a mock merger and acquisition case in which the interns negotiated the terms for the merger of two companies and drafted a letter of intent, discussion about life as a prosecutor with David N. Kelley, the former U.S. Attorney to the Southern District of New York, and a visit with the Hon. P. Kevin Castel, United States District Judge, and tour of the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York's courthouse and a tour of the New York Stock Exchange.
This is Cahill's first summer as a sponsor. The Legal Outreach program was established in 1982 and currently has over 40 partnerships with other organizations.
