Joel Kurtzberg Honored by Sanctuary for Families for 19 Years of Pro Bono Service

Cahill partner Joel Kurtzberg has been honored by Sanctuary for Families at Sanctuary's 2016 Pillars of Change event as one of five outstanding volunteers working with victims of domestic violence. The annual event celebrated 19 years of dedicated pro bono advocacy by Joel for Sanctuary for Families clients, including representing numerous pro bono clients in court and tutoring five survivors of gender violence participating in Sanctuary's Economic Empowerment Program.
Cahill serves as a General Counsel to Sanctuary for Families, and through a pro bono program, Cahill's lawyers serve as advocates for domestic violence victims seeking protective orders in Family Court, provide legal counseling to immigrant domestic violence victims seeking permanent resident status or citizenship, and provide legal advice to victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking outside of litigation.
