Former SEC Counsel Joins Cahill
Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP is pleased to announce that C. Wallace DeWitt, most recently senior counsel to Commissioner Michael S. Piwowar of the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), joined as a Counsel in its securities and regulatory enforcement practice.
In his role as Senior Counsel to SEC Commissioner Piwowar, Mr. DeWitt advised the Commissioner on enforcement matters and those relating to the Division of Corporation Finance, the Office of the Chief Accountant and the FINRA FinTech Industry Committee.

Mr. DeWitt previously served as an associate in the Tokyo, Hong Kong and Washington, D.C. offices of two AmLaw 100 firms, advising issuers and underwriters with respect to global debt and equity issuances and compliance with U.S. financial regulations. He is also a former Executive Director of Research for the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation.
Mr. DeWitt has extensive experience advising global financial institutions and foreign private issuers on U.S. securities and banking matters as well as financial reform legislation, regulations and compliance.

Mr. DeWitt is a graduate of Yale College, King’s College, Cambridge and of Harvard Law School. Mr. DeWitt clerked for the Honorable Laurence H. Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He is proficient at varying degrees of fluency in Japanese, French, German, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch.
