In his thirty plus years as a trial attorney, George has successfully litigated a variety of securities and derivatives-related matters on behalf of financial institutions, corporations (and their boards, officers and directors) and professional firms. He has led cases, inter alia, under Sections 10(b), 13(d), 14(a), 14(d), 14(e) and 16(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Sections 5, 11, and 12 of the Securities Act of 1933. He also represents clients in matters concerning tender offer disputes, proxy contests and going private transactions.

George has notable success litigating complex commercial matters, often involving massive financial (and public relations) exposures, including those involving taxation, reinsurance and insurance, bankruptcy and restructuring, and antitrust. He has litigated contract, real estate, employment and international trade disputes.

George manages jury trials, bench trials, appeals, commercial arbitrations (and other forms of A.D.R), and administrative and investigatory proceedings throughout the United States. He is listed in Who's Who in America and Who'sWho in American Law.

  • Successfully represented the outside directors of a government sponsored enterprise in derivative and ERISA litigation, an SEC investigation and related regulatory proceedings.
  • Represented a leading investment bank in numerous lawsuits under the federal securities law and common law involving CMBS transactions.
  • Represented cedents in reinsurance arbitrations involving collapse of the largest private workers’ compensation insurer in the California market.
  • Represented an investment bank in class actions brought by investors arising out of a sale and leaseback tax shelter transaction.
  • Represented a leading global bank in multiple governmental investigations of tax shelter transactions.
  • Represented an investment bank in class action litigation brought by investors in public offerings.
  • Represented an investment bank in connection with a $5 billion tax claim.
  • Represented investment banks in successful jury and bench trials against international financial institutions in trading disputes.
  • Represented corporations in antitrust and other grand jury proceedings.
  • Represented lenders in restructuring debt in and out of bankruptcy and related litigation.
  • Represented a corporation in dispute over invocation of MAC clause to terminate an acquisition.
  • Represented an investment bank in class action securities litigation arising out of an insider trading scandal.
  • Represented an international bank in arbitration arising out of Bombay Stock Exchange scandal.
  • Represented a corporation in tax appeal relating to DISCs.
  • Represented a corporation in arbitration regarding D&O coverage for a class action settlement.
  • Represented political risk insurers in arbitrations and litigation relating to expropriations.

George has practiced at Cahill since his graduation from New York University School of Law, where he was Editor of the New York University Law Review. He became a partner in 1980.
