Ben has thirty years of experience in all areas of tax planning, with emphasis on the structuring of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, cross-border transactions and domestic and international financial products. He advises clients on a broad range of tax matters.

Ben has advised General Electric Company in connection with numerous acquisitions and divestitures over the years, including its $10.9 billion sale of GE Insurance Solutions to Swiss Re and affiliates and its $2.4+ billion IPO of stock of Genworth Financial, Inc. Other clients include AIG and JPMorgan.

Earlier in his career, Ben served in the office of the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service and also in the Office of Tax Legislative Counsel of the U.S. Treasury Department, where he worked on legislative and regulatory matters, including those relating to corporate reorganizations and spin-offs.

Ben is recognized among the nation's top tax practitioners by Chambers USA. He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Tax Section of the NY State Bar Association and a member emeritus of the Tax Forum. He is a member of the ABA (Tax Section), Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and Massachusetts Bar Association.

 
Ben joined Cahill in 1980 and became a partner in 1982.
