Athy represents leading investment and commercial banks and borrowers in a variety of secured financing transactions. She represents purchasers, sellers, landlords and tenants in all aspects of commercial and developmental real estate. Athy also counsels the firm's corporate clients in a variety of real estate matters, especially those in connection with mergers, acquisitions and dispositions.

  • Representation of Wachovia Bank in providing $320 million of bank financing, secured by various tower sites in several jurisdictions, to Young Broadcasting, Inc.
  • Representation of Citigroup North America, Inc. in providing $820 million of acquisition financing, secured by extensive coal assets and reserves in various jurisdictions, to Foundation Coal Corporation.
  • Representation of JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. in providing $375 million of acquisition financing, secured by numerous Pizza Hut locations in various jurisdictions, to NPC International, Inc.
  • Representation of Credit Suisse, Cayman Islands Branch, in providing $100 million bank financing, secured by multiple casinos and racetracks in various jurisdictions, to Jacobs Entertainment, Inc.
  • Representation of Charlie Brown's, Inc. in obtaining $85 million of acquisition financing, secured by numerous Charlie Brown's restaurants in various jurisdictions, from Bank of America, N.A.
  • Representation of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. in connection with its sale/leaseback of numerous properties in numerous jurisdictions.
  • Representation of offshore investor interest in connection with the acquisition of 383 Madison Avenue, the ground leasing thereof and the transfer of development rights from Grand Central Terminal to the property for the development and construction of Bear Stearns' corporate headquarters.
  • Representation of Nine West Group, Inc. in connection with the development of its corporate headquarters in Westchester County pursuant to an IDA financing with the County of Westchester Industrial Development Agency.
  • Representation of a real estate investment fund in connection with the acquisition of the newsprint division of FSC Paper Corporation and the separation of certain shared real property and other facilities located in Illinois utilized by the newsprint and tissue businesses conducted therein through the establishment of a two-unit industrial condominium.

Athy began practicing law at Cahill following her graduation from St. John’s University School of Law, where she served as Articles Editor of the Law Review. She became a partner in 1998.
