Cahill represented The Empire District Electric Company (NYSE: EDE) in connection with its agreement to be acquired by a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (TSX: AQN) The Empire District Electric Company is a Joplin, Missouri based regulated electric, gas (through its wholly-owned subsidiary The Empire District Gas Company), and water utility, serving approximately 218,000 customers in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Algonquin is a North American diversified generation, transmission and distribution utility.
The all-cash transaction is valued at $2.4 billion (including assumed debt).
