Joseph Kania is an associate in the London office of Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, where he focuses his practice on debt finance transactions.

Joseph has experience advising global banks, sponsors and corporations on a wide variety of financing transactions, with a particular emphasis on European and cross-border data center financings and real estate finance transactions.

Digital Infrastructure Finance:

  • Acting for the underwriter in relation to a €1.7 billion financing for Echelon Data Centres.*
  • Representation of Pure Data Centres Group, the designer, developer, and operator of hyperscale cloud and AI data centres, on securing a senior secured financing from an investment bank. The financing will support the development of a 78 MW, fully leased, six-acre campus in Westpoort, Amsterdam and the continued expansion of the Pure DC campus in Ballycoolin, Dublin.*
  • Representation of Vantage Data Centers on a €750 million financing agreement to expand the company's EMEA portfolio.*
  • Representation of the lenders on the financing for the acquisition by Apollo Funds of the pan-European, highly interconnected colocation data center business from STACK Infrastructure, a portfolio company of a credit fund.*
  • Representation of the lenders in relation to the circa €1 billion development financing of two data centers located in Italy.*
  • Representation of the developer in relation to the senior and holdco financing of a data center campus located in France.*
  • Representation of the developer in relation to the €650 million development financing of a data center campus located in Ireland.*
  • Representation of the mandated lead arranger in relation to an approximately NOK 3.6 billion senior secured green loan facility for the refinancing of a portfolio of data centers located in Norway.*

Real Estate Finance:

  • Representation of Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. in connection with a refinancing of a premium co-living scheme in Croydon, UK.*
  • Advising a financial institution on a loan on loan finance transaction with a large alternative asset management company headquartered in the UK in relation to their acquisition and refinancing of various residential nonperforming loans in Spain.*
