Peter’s practice concentrates on the defense of companies faced with complex securities litigation, regulatory investigations and governmental enforcement proceedings. He represents leading financial institutions, global corporations, and boards of directors, and has extensive experience with the federal securities laws, class action defense, and the consumer protection laws of numerous states. Peter also has broad experience in appellate advocacy at both the state and federal levels, and has successfully represented companies in mediation and arbitration.
Most recently, Peter represented one of the world's leading credit rating agencies in civil lawsuits and coordinated actions brought by more than one dozen state Attorneys General arising out of its rating of structured finance securities, including securities backed by subprime mortgages. Peter has also represented one of the world’s largest investment banks in multi-billion dollar securities litigations, alleging violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Securities Act of 1933. In addition to his securities defense work, Peter has substantial experience litigating before the United States Bankruptcy Courts, including on behalf of debtors-in-possession, and represents the second largest U.S. cable television company in a series of disputes raising breach of contract and consumer protection claims. He also has successfully defended claims, including fraudulent conveyance and professional negligence, arising from a series of major international Ponzi schemes.
Peter has been selected to the 2015 and 2016 New York Metro Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list.
