Jason Schwartz Speaks at Taxonomy of Digital Assets for Tax Purposes

Cahill partner Jason Schwartz spoke on the panel, “Taxonomy of Digital Assets for Tax Purposes,” at the 2024 Midyear Tax Meeting hosted by the American Bar Association Tax Section.
Panelists discussed the taxonomy of digital assets as well as address the tax implications of classifying digital assets as property, stock, debt instruments, securities, commodities, money or foreign currency. Additionally, the session will specifically address the issue of what is a stablecoin for tax purposes, and discuss various Code sections that depend on classification of digital assets.
