Sam Enzer Featured on Unchained Podcast, “The Real Reason Why the SEC Might Be Going After Ethereum”

Sam Enzer, chair of Cahill’s Cryptocurrency and FinTech group, and Greg Strong, partner at DLx Law, joined Laura Shin on the Unchained podcast to discuss the SEC’s investigation of the Ethereum Foundation. The agency has previously affirmed that ETH is a commodity, and may now be looking for legal ways to label ETH a security. Enzer and Strong discuss possible motivations behind the SEC’s investigation and the potentially substantial impact on the crypto industry if the SEC were to win a case alleging ETH is a security. Enzer and Strong also cover the likelihood of the approval of spot Ether ETFs, as well as the recent ruling in the SEC vs Coinbase case, which dismissed claims that Coinbase’s wallet constituted an unregistered brokerage, but allowed the rest of the suit to proceed.
