Cahill Represents Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr in Congressional Testimony to House Oversight Committee

Date: 08/27/25

Cahill was retained by former U.S. Attorney General William Barr for his deposition regarding the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s (Oversight Committee) bipartisan investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Barr was U.S. Attorney General when Epstein was arrested on federal charges of sex trafficking minors in 2019 and committed suicide in his jail cell later that year as well as when Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested on federal sex trafficking charges in 2020.

Barr enlisted Cahill’s D.C. Congressional Investigations Practice team, which is Chaired and led by Edward C. O’Callaghan, to prepare him for the Oversight Committee’s deposition. Edward accompanied Barr during the more than four hours of probing questioning, which came from both Republicans and Democrats.

Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky. told reporters during a break in the questioning that Barr has been cooperative with committee investigators, “Attorney General Barr is answering every question, and I think that he’s being very transparent.”

In addition to Barr, the Oversight Committee earlier this month issued subpoenas for depositions to Bill and Hillary Clinton; former FBI directors James Comey, and Robert Mueller; and former attorneys general Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales for “testimony related to horrific crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein.”
