Katherine Vessels is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, where she focuses her practice on trade remedy proceedings and intellectual property litigation matters.
Katherine has been recognized twice by Law360 as a “Litigator of the Week” for her contributions to the successful resolution of a 337 investigation and a complete defense verdict in “bet the company” type case.
Prior to joining the firm, Katherine externed with the U.S. International Trade Commission’s Office of Unfair Import Investigations staff. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Hawaii’s William S. Richardson School of Law, teaching courses on international law and intellectual property litigation. She also is a combat veteran and former U.S. Army logistician, and has also worked in the Philippines, Thailand, and Belgium on maritime security, maritime commerce, and international ocean law issues.
Her training as a U.S. Army logistician provides an in-depth understanding of how to identify and address supply chain issues, and her experiences as a combat veteran translate to composure under pressure with an enhanced ability to understand how to address immediate issues in a manner that enables the team’s strategic success. Her technical background and practical experiences with all manner of legal systems and technologies while consulting and sailing the Pacific allows her to provide unique insight on trade compliance matters as well as patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation over a wide range of technologies.
