Kathy Silberthau Strom, resident in the firm's Washington DC office, advises leading financial institutions, insurance companies and multinational corporations in international trade matters and in trademark law, and provides regulatory counseling in connection with corporate transactions.
Kathy has extensive experience counseling multinational corporations regarding the application of U.S. laws, including international trade restrictions implemented by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the Treasury Department and the Bureau of Industry and Security of the Department of Commerce, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, U.S. export control laws and acquisitions subject to review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. Kathy has also participated in the drafting and implementation of corporate compliance programs, the conduct of certain internal investigations and representation of clients in enforcement proceedings instituted by the United States government.
Kathy advises clients in all aspects of U.S. trademark law, including trademark and name counseling, searching, filing, maintenance, due diligence and general strategies for trademark protection.
Kathy acts as regulatory counsel in connection with corporate finance transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity securities transactions, with a focus on regulatory compliance in a number of fields, such as international trade, government contracts, healthcare, intellectual property, and food, drug and medical device regulatory matters.
Kathy is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York, DC and Maryland State Bars.
Kathy began her legal career at Cahill in 1981 in New York.
