Cahill Relocates to New D.C. Office Near White House Amidst Strategic Practice Expansions

16th Street Historic District location reflects firm’s commitment to D.C. legal market

Date: 09/08/25

Cahill is pleased to announce the relocation of our Washington, D.C. office to 900 16th Street NW, just blocks from the White House and Capitol Hill.

The new 12,000 square foot office in the nation’s capital is currently home to 17 lawyers in practice areas including Congressional Investigations, White Collar Defense & Investigations, IP Litigation, Digital Assets & Emerging Technology (CahillNXT), Antitrust, Tax, and Telecommunications. The spacious accommodations will allow the firm to expand its Washington, D.C. presence even further in the near future.

Recent additions to Cahill’s team in D.C. include Edward O’Callaghan, chair of the firm’s Congressional Investigations practice; a trio of IP partners led by Technology IP Litigation practice chair Chris Campbell; and crypto tax partner Jason Schwartz, part of CahillNXT, the firm’s globally recognized Digital Assets and Emerging Technology practice. Additionally, the firm is launching 501Foundry, a nonprofit incubator led by Schwartz that helps founders navigate the legal requirements to become and operate as tax-exempt nonprofit organizations.

“Expanding our Washington, D.C. footprint is a natural next step in our strategic plan. We are not expanding simply for the sake of getting bigger, but rather seeking growth with purpose. By bringing together leading partners in these important practice areas, we can better serve our clients at the epicenter of federal policymaking, regulation, and enforcement, bringing the same rigor and distinction that have defined our firm for over 100 years,” said Herb Washer, chair of Cahill’s Executive Committee.

O’Callaghan, who also serves as managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office, added, “I am thrilled that Cahill is expanding its presence here. Proximity to Capitol Hill enables real-time support for clients facing hearings, subpoenas, or oversight inquiries, while being located near the ITC, USPTO, and the Federal Circuit facilitates the strategic handling of high-stakes IP disputes. D.C. is also a critical regulatory hub for digital assets and emerging technologies, and an amplified presence here enhances our responsiveness for clients navigating that complex, fast-evolving landscape.”

Since joining the firm a year ago, O’Callaghan has already led several high-profile matters. Most recently, he prepared former Attorney General William Barr for a deposition in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s investigation into the federal government's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. He also prepared Boston Mayor Michelle Wu for her well-received testimony before the same committee during its inquiry into so-called sanctuary cities. In addition, O’Callaghan recently represented Austal, a shipbuilder for the U.S. Navy, in reaching resolutions with the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Navy concerning allegations that former employees misstated the company’s financial performance.

The building itself has received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Counsel for its high level of sustainable design and construction and includes a penthouse conference space with a rooftop terrace featuring views of the Washington Monument and the White House.
