Cahill Team Named Litigator of the Week Runner-Up for Securing Dismissal in Major ATA Case for Binance
March 13, 2026
A Cahill team led by Samson Enzer, Anirudh Bansal, and Sesi Garimella was named “Litigator of the Week” runner-up by the American Lawyer’s Litigation Daily for its representation of Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, in an Anti-Terrorism Act (“ATA”) case.
The team secured a complete dismissal of all claims alleging that entities operating the Binance.com exchange aided and abetted terrorist attacks and conspired with the attackers. U.S. District Judge Jeannette A. Vargas of the Southern District of New York granted Binance’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit accusing Binance and its founder, Changpeng Zhao, of helping terrorist groups carry out dozens of attacks.
Following this decision, the same Cahill team also secured another favorable ruling from a federal court in Alabama in a related ATA case against Binance, where the judge adopted similar reasoning in rejecting related claims brought against the company. The decisions highlight not only Cahill’s successful advocacy for Binance, but also the firm’s broader role in shaping the legal framework governing secondary liability under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
