Alfonso Garcia Chan to Deliver Opening Remarks and Speak at the AUTM Annual Meeting 2026 on IP Monetization, Global Patent Strategy, and Technology Transfers

Alfonso Garcia Chan will speak on multiple panels and deliver the opening remarks at the AUTM Annual Meeting 2026, taking place February 8–11, 2026, in Seattle, Washington. The AUTM Annual Meeting is the premier global conference for technology transfer professionals, bringing together leaders from academia, industry, and government to discuss innovation commercialization, intellectual property strategy, and research partnerships.

On Monday, February 9, Alfonso will participate in Unlocking Alternative Funding Streams Through Strategic IP Monetization, a session focused on how universities can transition from passive IP licensing to strategic monetization to support long-term financial sustainability. The panel will examine portfolio optimization, alternative funding models, organizational strategies for technology transfer offices, and case studies of successful university monetization efforts.

On Tuesday, February 10, Alfonso will speak on Strategic Use of the European Patent System for Your Global Patent Portfolio. This educational session will explore how the European patent framework can be leveraged as part of a broader global IP strategy. Alfonso will join an international panel to discuss strategic considerations for managing and maximizing patent portfolios across jurisdictions.

On Wednesday, February 11, Alfonso will also speak on For Whom the Bell Tolls — Expanding Horizons for U.S.-India Technology Transfer Collaboration, which will explore emerging opportunities for cross-border research and commercialization partnerships between U.S. institutions and India, including IP considerations, policy incentives, and collaboration models.
