Cahill Corporate Lawyers Awarded Top Honors by The Legal 500 US 2023

The Legal 500 US has recognized eighteen of our corporate lawyers as leaders in various transactional practice areas, including Antitrust Merger Control; Capital Markets representation across Debt and Equity Offerings, and High-Yield; Commercial Lending (Advice to Lenders); Corporate Governance; Environmental (Transactional); Insurance (Advice to Insurers); Middle-Market M&A; Media, Technology and Telecoms Broadcast: Transactional; and Tax, as part of the publication's 2023 guide.
Cahill’s Banking & Finance practice continues to be distinguished as a tier-one ranked firm in the Finance: Commercial Lending table, praised as a “market leading team” by clients. Bill Hartnett Co-Chair of the Firm’s Executive Committee and partner Jim Clark maintained their Hall of Fame rankings in Commercial Lending, recognized as “standout members” of the Commercial Lending and Capital Markets teams. Partner Jonathan Schaffzin, ranked in the Hall of Fame nationally for Commercial Lending and a Recommended Lawyer for Capital Markets: Debt (advice to underwriters), was lauded by clients for his expertise on work relating to public and private corporations. Clients similarly praised partner John Tripodoro as a Recommended Lawyer and a “key member” of the Tier 1 ranked Capital Markets: High Yield Debt Offering team. Partner Bill Miller, ranked as a Leading Lawyer in Capital Markets: High Yield Debt Offerings and Capital Markets: Debt (advice to underwriters), was applauded by clients as a “top name in the market” with one client noting Bill and the team’s “wealth of knowledge in getting the other side to agree to our position because they have the best argument to defend our position.” Partner Tim Howell was recognized by the publication is a key member of the High-Yield Debt Offerings team, with clients praising the “unrivalled knowledge of the high-yield products” provided by the team. Counsel Sean Tierney was also recognized as a Recommended Lawyer by the publication for his efforts in High-Yield Debt Offerings.
Helene Banks, partner and Chair of Cahill’s M&A and Corporate Advisory practice group, achieved continued praise by The Legal 500, evident in the practice’s move to Tier 2 in the M&A/Corporate and Commercial: Corporate Governance table. The Corporate Governance team was praised for their “top-flight talent” and “deep bench” when handling a range of work, extending from M&A and IPOs to associated corporate governance issues relating to public companies, and ESG strategies, noting the team’s increasing engagement in ESG matters. Cahill’s M&A practice was also ranked among the top firms in the M&A: Middle Market (Sub-$500m) table, with the 2023 publication recognizing Helene as a Recommended Lawyer in the area.
Praised by clients as “the best in the business,” partner Craig Horowitz achieved continued recognition as a Recommended Lawyer in The Legal 500 2023 guide for his expertise in international tax planning and REITs. Partners Ann Creed and Aliza Levine were also recognized as Recommend Lawyers among the top tax lawyers in the nation, praised as “regular port of calls” for investment banks and insurance companies.
Partner Thorn Rosenthal maintained his Hall of Fame ranking in the Advice to Insurers table. The publication commended Thorn as a “highly experienced litigator,” noting his representation of major US, Bermudan and European insurers in disputes before courts and in arbitration and appraisal proceedings.
