Pro Bono Counsel Artemis Anninos Profiled by Fordham Law for Pandemic Efforts

Date: 06/01/20

Cahill's Pro Bono Counsel and Fordham University School of Law alumna, Artemis Anninos, was recently recognized for her legal innovation as the communities deal with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by Fordham Law News. In connection with her role as Cahill’s dedicated pro bono counsel, Artemis has organized firm-wide legal efforts to assist small businesses. “This particular pandemic is really affecting the little guy in a way that the entire structure of one’s life is affected… this is about saving someone’s livelihood,” she remarked in her recent interview with Fordham Law.

Fordham Law also highlighted Artemis and Cahill’s expanded pro bono work in conjunction with Sanctuary for Families, New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence. The global pandemic has led to a substantial increase in incidents of domestic violence and many of those affected have faced new legal challenges in seeking safety, particularly with the closure of the courts. “Sanctuary worked with the state court system and developed a virtual assistance program for people who call the domestic violence hotline,” Anninos explained.
