Brock Bosson Moderates “For the World’s Profit: How Business Can Support Sustainable Development” Featuring The Brookings Institution

Date: 04/04/24

On Thursday, April 4, Cahill hosted “For the World’s Profit: How Business Can Support Sustainable Development,” featuring The Brookings Institution. The event was moderated by Brookings Council member and Chair of Cahill’s Corporate Governance & Compliance Advisory practice group, Brock Bosson, and featured Homi Kharas, John McArthur, and Jane Nelson from the Brookings Institution’s Center for Sustainable Development (“CSD”). The open-format discussion focused on CSD’s work and the role private sector leaders can play in advancing global sustainable development, with special emphasis on embedding sustainability into corporate governance structures, the role of third party assurance in sustainability, and scaling sustainable finance.

The Center for Sustainable Development generates cutting-edge research and empowers collaborative action to tackle the world's interwoven economic, social, and environmental challenges in all societies and at all scales. Homi Kharas, John McArthur, and Jane Nelson are currently collaborating with Koji Makino of the JICA Ogata Research Institute and Kyoto University to edit a forthcoming book, For the World's Profit: How business can support sustainable development. The volume brings together diverse leading perspectives from the corporate and financial sector, regulators, standard-setters, scholars, and policymakers, helping to identify pathways to better progress on the world’s Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, and helping to inform debates on the shape of potential new global goals beyond 2030.
