Cahill Expands Pro Bono Partnership with Sanctuary for Families
Date: 03/27/14
In an expansion with our pro bono partnership with Sanctuary for Families, Cahill lawyers are now assisting with Sanctuary's Immigration Intervention Project, which provides free legal services to foreign-born victims of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and gender-based violence. Through the project, Cahill lawyers help these individuals formalize their immigration status, protect them from deportation, and reunite them with children abroad. Formalization of status is sought initially through the US Citizenship and Immigration Service, which adjudicates whether an application will be accepted or denied. If denied, the decision can be appealed through the Administrative Appeals Office. Cahill lawyers are analyzing the appellate process and case law in order to assist Sanctuary for Families clients in future proceedings. Cahill serves as a General Counsel to Sanctuary for Families.
